Buitenplaats Trompenburgh
The nationally renowned country estate of Trompenburgh, named after the illustrious seafarer Cornelis Tromp, is located between the low grounds of the Vecht and the high grounds of the Gooi. After the destruction of the first draft of an earlier layout from 1654, Cornelis Tromp had the country estate reconstructed in 1673. The manor with a moat was situated in the middle of a geometric park. The country estate was given the name'Syllisburg\\\', after a county title given to it by the Danish monarch. Tromp probably got inspiration for the design of his outside from the houses of the Oranges, such as Huis ten Bosch.
