De Munt
The city of's Heerenberg has had the privilege of minting coins since the Middle Ages. That happened in this building, which was appropriately called De Munt. (Jacob van Lennep walk) In Van Lennep's time there was a hall against the Munttoren where the distinguished Societeit de Munt met. An exclusive gentlemen's club, where he was accepted as a member in 1828. He never felt quite at home there, because all the older gentlemen continued to treat him like a junior, even when he was already a well-known writer. He finally joined a more ordinary society: Concordia, which was given a new building in 1859 at Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 345.
