Geldersche Gracht

In the fifteenth century, under the Duke of Gelre, Arnold van Egmont, the Geldersche Gracht was constructed. Besides a drainage canal for the polder Oldebroek in the Zuiderzee, it also functioned as a border canal between Gelre and the Oversticht (present-day Overijssel). To the northeast of the village of Noordeinde, the Geldersche Gracht is called the Nieuwe Kanaal.
