Luisterpaal Tweede Wereldoorlog
In September 1944, thanks to Operation Market Garden, the south of the Netherlands was liberated. From then on, the Allies fought to conquer the rest of the Netherlands and Germany. In the winter of 1945, with Operation Veritable, the Allies tried to liberate the area between the Meuse and the Rhine and to enter Germany via these rivers. At the site of this listening post, the Allies wanted to enter Germany without having to cross a large river. However, the troops were slowed down as the snow began to melt and the landscape turned into a mud bath. It was not until 11 March 1945 that the German troops were expelled from the Rhine area.
