Deltawerk Philipsdam
The Philipsdam is part of the Delta Works. With the construction of the Philipsdam, the Wateren Krammer and Volkerak were immediately cut off from the Eastern Scheldt. The Philipsdam runs from the Grevelingendam to the Sint-Philipsland. The locks are technically complicated, because they must prevent an exchange between the fresh water of the Volkerak and the salt water of the Oosterschelde. The construction of the dam has significantly changed the landscape around it. Silting has created salt marshes with a rich animal life.
