Eilandspolder

The Eilandspolder is a protected peat meadow area. The water level is high, otherwise the peat soil would oxidize and disappear. The result of protecting the open wetland meadow landscape are the numerous protected bird species such as the wilp, godwit, lapwing, spoonbill and warbler that occur here.
