Dorpskerk Heemskerk

The church is first mentioned in 1063. Over the centuries, a church was built of tuff, on the site of the current building. The tower was built in the 13th century from the so-called monastery mops. These are large baked bricks that were used to build monasteries. The tower was probably built in the first half of the 15th century. This can be deduced from the year 1464 on the loud bell and this makes it the oldest bell in Kennemerland.
