Schulpen - Andringastate en de Wildeman

Schulpen, like many other streets in Lemmer, is full of beautiful buildings with a story. Here you will find the Andringastate, a beautiful house that was inhabited from 1666 to 1851 by the Grietmen of Lemsterland. A Grietman was sort of a precursor to the mayor, but he also had judicial power. There have lived here 9 consecutive Griet men. In 1851 de Grietman was replaced by a mayor. After 1888 the house was sold and divided into several shops and living quarters.
