Windmill

Molen de Bommelaer

In the years 1620 - '30, a wooden flour mill was built on site, parts of which have been reused in the current mill. In 1961 the Vermaas family sold the now dilapidated mill to A. Lokker. This was followed by other owners who had obtained a demolition permit for the demolition of the mill. In 1967 the mill, which was almost demolished, was taken over by the then Foundation for the preservation of the Flakkeese Mills. In 1969 - '71 the mill was restored. Since then, the mill has been used for grinding grain on a voluntary basis. The mill then also got its current name. After the transfer in 1974, the municipality of Oostflakke became the owner. Since 1988, the mill has been owned by the Goeree-Overflakkee Molenstichting.
