Bloedbeek
The Loobeek is originally a tributary of the Maas and has its source in the Peel. In the last phase of the Second World War, after the Battle of Overloon, the Allies had to cross the Loobeek with their tanks from Overloon to Venray. At that time, the Loobeek had become six meters wide due to continuous rain showers. Germans previously placed mines in the Loobeek, causing hundreds of soldiers to die. The stream turned red because of the blood, hence the name Bloedbeek. In memory of these English soldiers, a monument has been placed near the Bloedbeek.
