Herzogschloss Celle
The Celler Schloss (1292) with the Residenz Museum is one of the most beautiful Welfen castles in Germany. Colorful court stories are brought to life: Celle as a baroque residence, exile of the Danish queen Caroline Mathilde, summer residence of the kings of Hanover in the 19th century. The baroque state rooms lure with beautiful plastered ceilings by Italian masters, and other impressive castle rooms present rulers of the Celle line, from which once kings of Prussia and Great Britain? emerged. The K? Nigssaal impresses with imposing paintings and selected valuables from the time of the personal union between Hanover and Great Britain. and the kingdom of Hanover in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Schlosstheater is the oldest permanently used baroque theater in Germany. Noteworthy is the castle chapel from 1485 with a Renaissance interior from the year 1565 and the series of paintings of more than seventy works from this time.
