Sint-Martinuskerk

The main church of Aalst is an example of Brabant Gothic. Numerous artefacts adorn the church: Dirk Martens' tombstone, the sacrament tower by Jeroen Du Quesnoy the Elder, the Van Peteghem church and stained glass windows from Casier's Ghent studio. There is a beautiful baroque painting by the world famous painter Rubens entitled: De Pestlijders. Adolf Daens was baptized here, had his communion here and celebrated his first mass there in 1873.
