Scheldebroeken

The Scheldt trousers are a typical landscape of the Scheldt valley on the territory of the municipalities of Zele, Berlare and Wichelen. It is a lake area with an open character. In the hay meadows (cuckoo flower, marsh marigold, large strip seed) breed for black-tailed godwit, shoveler and red-breasted wheatear. In this environment, the filming of the film Mira or De Teleurgang van de Waterhoek took place in 1971, a film adaptation of the book by Stijn Strereken.
