In den Groote Zalm

On the Zoutwerf houses De Zalm, Steur and Waag catch the eye. The beautiful Renaissance façade De Zalm was the guild house of the fishmongers. That guild was so rich that it commissioned the work of art 'The Wonderful Fishing' by Rubens. You can still admire that painting in the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-over-de-Dijlekerk. The Steur was a warehouse in the 16th century. In the Waag, among other things, the salt was weighed.
