D? Sir? Jacques Romain Bouchery was a socialist councilor and Alderman of Mechelen between 1921 and 1923. During the Second World War, resistance groups were also active in Mechelen. In reprisal for a failed grenade attack on the Mechelse Kommandantur, D? Sir? Bouchery and fellow city councilor Vankesbeeck detained for 6 weeks in Fort Breendonk.
