Historical culture village

Gouderak

Gouderak is a special village. Inextricably linked to the Hollandsche IJssel and a beautiful hinterland: the Krimpenerwaard. Walking or cycling through 'Golderake', the old name of the village dating from 1274, there is a lot to enjoy. You will find monumental buildings, old farms and national monument 'Gemaal Verdoold'. There is a Waal or wheel on the edge of the village. It is said to have arisen as a result of a storm surge at the end of the 14th century. Just outside the village you will find an oasis of peace, nature and lots of meadow birds in the least populated part of the Krimpenerwaard. So beautiful and beneficial. You simply cannot miss that!
