Historical culture village
Vlist
The Koeneschans is a small peninsula in the peat river De Vlist. The Koeneschans is a defensive work that, as part of the Old Dutch Waterline, was supposed to protect 17th-century Holland from invading armies. A great starting point for a route to Silver City Schoonhoven or cycle or walk along De Vlist to Haastrecht. On the way through the beautiful landscape you pass monumental farms, where you can enjoy farmer's cheese or a farmer's ice cream. Just before Haastrecht is the 6th Boezemmolen, which is certainly also worth a visit. Would you like to know more about windmills and water? In the Polder Museum Gemaal De Hooge Boezem you will find all the information or visit the house museum Bisdom van Vliet. The cozy village centers of Haastrecht, Stolwijk and Vlist are within a relatively short walking and cycling distance from each other. You will find nice restaurants, shops and a pleasant village center.
