Wederopbouw centrum Rhenen
During the Second World War Rhenen was destroyed twice (in 1940 and 1944) and rebuilt after the war. The landscape embedding, the centuries-old history and the post-war reconstruction make Rhenen different from 'conventional' historic cities. Rhenen is one of the best and coolest examples of a reconstruction core in the Netherlands. Despite the heavy destruction in the Second World War, the old medieval city has remained recognizable. All facades are drawn according to the same Dutch architectural style: the Delft School. That makes Rhenen unique.
