Gemaal Reinier Blok

The Reinier Blok pumping station, built in 1868, pumped water from the Hoek, Schuwagt and Zuidbroek polders to the Hollandsche IJssel. The pumping station switched from steam to diesel and later to electricity. Scrapers were replaced by pumps. Since the construction of the new Johan Veurink pumping station, this oldest steam pumping station in the Krimpenerwaard is no longer in use. It has been converted into a residence and recognized as a national monument.
