Driebergen-Rijsenburg

At the foot of the southern flank of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug lie the conjoined villages of Driebergen and Rijsenburg. The first buildings arose on the Traaij, an old dirt road that ran from the heart of the village towards Amersfoort. Nowadays you can enjoy shopping there. You will find characteristic shops, galleries and terraces to catch your breath in between. The old village center breathes history. Here you will find the ancient church square. This characteristic semi-circular square is a unique relic of the Napoleonic era. From the adjacent Wapen van Rijsenburg opposite the church you have a beautiful view over the shops, residential and coach houses. At the end of the 18th century, Driebergen-Rijsenburg was an interesting fortress for wealthy Dutchmen. This is reflected in the many estates and country estates, including Kraaybeekerhof and the Sparrendaal country estate. Castle Sterkenburg is centrally located in the beautiful rural surroundings of the meadow areas. Here you can walk in the beautiful garden or view the overwhelming interior under the expert guidance of one of the residents.
