Het Droonse Gat

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Doornse gat was part of the heaths that covered the Utrechtse Heuvelrug at the time. Due to gravel excavations for road maintenance and sand use in the area, the Doornse Gat lost its heathland character. After the desanding was completed, it is now used as a recreation area.
