Church
De witte Kerk
The white church in Noordwijkerhout is the icon of this village. Around 1300 a parish church was built in Noordwijkerhout intended for Roman Catholic worship. This church has been burned down and renovated several times. In 1508, the church was thoroughly renovated and the blunt tower roof replaced by a slender spire. In 1573 the church was destroyed by fire and the church was assigned to the Reformed. The church is currently owned by the Dutch Reformed Congregation. There is a service every Sunday at 10 am. If you look closely, you will see the different stones under the white paint. This shows that the church has been renovated and restored several times. The low windows at the side of the ship can still be seen where villagers with contagious diseases could once have been able to attend mass. Do the window bars in the tower.
