Bonne-Chièremolen

The Bonne-Chieremolen is a corn and oil mill on the edge of the city center of Bruges. The current mill was built in 1844 in East Flanders. In 1876 the mill was sold to a miller from Bruges. This mill served as a replacement for an earlier mill in Bruges that had blown over in 1903 during a heavy storm. Part of the mill ended up in the canal. In 1911 that mill was replaced by the mill from Belgium. In 1997 the mill was restored on a large scale, so that the dilapidated mill was once again operational. Today, the Bonne-Chiere mill still stands on the same site, but it is not possible to visit the mill. So you will have to settle for viewing the outside of the mill. This mill is the first mill that you see on the Kruisvest when you look from the Kruispoort.
