Church
Sint-Pieterskerk
The St. Peter's Church in the center of Leuven is a Roman Catholic church. The church was built in the Brabant Gothic style and was built in the 15th century by a famous late Gothic master builder. Until the 17th century, the church was built on, but in the end, St. Peter's Church was never completed. For example, the two towers on the west side of the tower were never made as high as they should be originally. The construction of the master builder was not stable enough, so that the towers could not be made too high. After a part of the towers collapsed, the towers were made slightly lower. The patron saint of the church is the apostle Peter. St. Peter's Church probably originated from a wooden church that stood on this spot in the 8th century. Over the centuries, the church has been expanded and rebuilt. In the church you can see a Romanesque crypt and a Gothic vault, among other things.
