Church

St. Michaëlkerk

Until 2006 the old Micha? L church stood on this spot. This church was built between 1965 and 1966, after the municipality of Venlo and the diocese decided that a church should be built for the hamlet of Het Ven. Until then, the chapel of the Mariadal monastery and the Gerardus chapel were used as a substitute church by the community. The church had a bell tower with three bells. In 2006 this church was demolished and replaced by the new Michael's Church. The church is part of a Multifunctional Center and it should above all feel like a home for the churchgoers. This is in contrast to the old church, which the churchgoers described as cool, dark and much too large. The maintenance of this huge church would become too expensive and so it was decided to build a new church. The church is decorated with colorful windows and murals in bright colors.
