In the Edah Museum you learn more about the history of supermarkets. The production and distribution of food has undergone great development over the centuries. Colonial goods used to be transported from Amsterdam and Rotterdam over canals to the rest of the Netherlands. Today, products take a completely different route to the local supermarket due to the emergence of new means of transport, but the shops and the products themselves have also undergone major developments. In the Edah Museum you can view all kinds of products from the past that are no longer available in the shops and you can see what a supermarket looked like in the past. You will also learn more about food of the future in the museum. What can we expect from the food that we will eat in, say, 50 years? The museum is open every Friday and Saturday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and every first Sunday of the month from noon to 5 p.m.
