De Reestkerk

Visit the website
The Reestkerk is a monumental church in Oud Avereest that was opened in 1852. The vestry was added in 1873. The original tower of the church was replaced in 1874. In the tower is a bell made of bronze from 1698. A second bell from 1638 disappeared during the last world war. In the church is a keyboard organ that was made by organ builder Jan van Loo. The front is still in its original condition. The rest of the organ was thoroughly restored in 1981. The pulpit in the church was probably placed during the construction of the church. In 1974 the church was thoroughly restored because the building had fallen into disrepair. It may seem a bit strange that a church has been built in the middle of a nature reserve, but the building is still widely used. The church is now used as a multifunctional building and, for example, it hosts classical concerts.
