De Kamper Kogge / Koggewerf in Kampen

Visit the website
The Kamper Kogge is the only sailing cog in the Netherlands. A cog is an old ship that was used in the Hanseatic period to transport goods. An attempt was made to create the most authentic image of a merchant ship from the fourteenth century on this ship. The Koggewerf is home to the Kamper Kogge. The ship is docked here, so that visitors can view the ship from the inside and outside. The wharf on the river IJssel houses a carpentry workshop, a blacksmith shop, a sewing workshop, an exhibition space with information about the Hanseatic era and medieval finds, a storytelling theater, a fish smoke house, a medieval fisherman's house and a tavern. Maritime history and old historic ships come to life here. You imagine yourself in the Hanseatic times when you step over the threshold here. Take a fascinating tour of the ship or book the Kamper Kogge for a boat trip. There are also plenty of activities organized for young and old on and around this ship. The ship is definitely worth a visit.
