Visit the website
At the beginning of September 1944, the inhabitants of Vught expected that their city would soon be liberated. The Allies had then moved in a northerly direction and on September 17 an incredibly large air fleet came over, which made the inhabitants optimistic about the liberation. Also the day after, an impressive air armada passed that was on its way to targets beyond. It was clear that the Allies had launched a large-scale airborne operation. Here you will hear the story of the German Generaloberst Kurt Student who lived in Huize Bergen, a villa in Vught.
