Begijnhof Breda

If you enter the gate of the Begijnhof on Catharinastraat in Breda, you will feel as if you are centuries back in time. Despite the immediate vicinity of the busy city center, a serene atmosphere prevails here, which still reminds of the former beguine community. A Begijnhof is a collection of individual houses of Beguines, usually in the vicinity of a church and surrounded by a wall with an entrance gate. The court includes beguine houses, a unique herb garden, a museum, an intimate church, a rectory and a hall.
