The history of the Bovenste Polder brick factory symbolizes the history of the brick industry of the River Area. Around 1900, the Netherlands had no fewer than 880 brick factories. After the Second World War, most factories closed their doors. Some old factories were given a new purpose, such as the Bovenste Polder.
