I05-Eibergen - Mallumsche Molen

Visit the website
The Mallumse Molen is a corn and hulling mill that is powered by the water of the Berkel river. It is unclear when the mill was built exactly, but the mill was already mentioned in 1424. This was probably the predecessor of the current mill. The mill used to consist of two buildings. On the right you found the flour mill and on the left an oil mill. The inhabitants of Eibergen were obliged to have their corn ground at the flour mill. The flour mill burned down in the mid-18th century, but it was immediately rebuilt. The oil mill was demolished in 1917. The flour mill remained in operation until 1943. In 1948 the mill became the property of the De Mallumse Molen foundation and the mill was immediately restored. In 1978 the mill was again restored. The mill is still capable of turning today. On Saturdays, volunteer millers run the mill between 2pm and 5pm. The peeling of barley to barley is still regularly demonstrated here.
