B09 - Vorden - Kasteel Hackfort

The imposing Hackfort castle was created in the 13th century from a fortified residential tower. It was destroyed by Spanish troops in 1586 and rebuilt in 1600. When the last Baroness van Westerholt van Hackfort died in 1981, the estate fell to Natuurmonumenten. It is one of the best preserved castles in Gelderland.
