L83 - Ommeren - Bombardement Liniedijk

In the winter of 1944 the front line ran straight through the Betuwe. By flooding the Over-Betuwe, the Germans wanted to prevent a further advance of the Allies. The British Air Force bombed the Liniedijk, which had already partly collapsed due to the rising water. The Neder-Betuwe, for instance, was also flooded and the occupiers' plan failed.
