K01-Ooij - Ijssellinie

In the Ooijpolder there are still considerable remains of the IJssel Line, built between 1950 and 1955 during the Cold War. In emergencies, the Waal could be closed with a weir. A small part of the Ooij would then protrude like an island above an enormous expanse of water. There are still remains of tank casemates, command posts and an emergency hospital here.
