Diefdijk

De D Liefdeijk is a medieval dike that was integrated into the New Dutch Waterline in the 19th century. With this, the westernmost part of the Betuwe could be flooded to protect the Dutch cities against a possible enemy invasion. Meanwhile, the water line has been decommissioned and some fortifications are getting a new life.
