De Vergulde Vos is not just a cozy and atmospheric (dining) cafe. You will find a rich past in this monumental building. When you step into the warm box, you wouldn't suspect that criminals walked in and out in ancient times. Not to have a nice beer or a bite to eat like you, but to be tried and imprisoned by the local authorities. In the early years, De Vergulde Vos was a court annex prison. But there is nothing more to see. The menu has also been adjusted: in addition to water and bread, many delicacies are served.
