Internationaal Brandweermuseum Rijssen

The International Fire Brigade Museum Rijssen was founded in 1996. In the museum you will find articles that have been used by fire brigades all over the world in recent years. Think of things like fire helmets, pre-war fire engines and new fire engines. In the old fire engines, the water still had to be pumped by hand and there were even fire engines that were pulled by horses. The working day of firefighters is completely depicted in the museum. You start in the barracks and then go to the room where a fire is depicted. Children can make their dream of becoming a firefighter come to life here. This way they can extinguish a fake fire themselves. The museum is located in the complex of manor De Oosterhof, together with the Rijssens Museum. The museum has been located here since 2003. The museum is unique in the Netherlands, because it not only has a collection of items from the Netherlands, but also a collection of items from abroad.
