Buitenplaats Beeckestijn

Beeckestijn dates from the 15th century and was owned by the Beeckestijn family as a fortified country house. In the 18th century Jacob Boreel Janszoon, an influential regent, bought the country house. He had the house further enlarged in 1755 and the rear park constructed. The gardens of Beeckestijn are unique for the Netherlands, because only here two historically important style forms can be seen side by side: a tightly geometrically designed part according to the French Baroque, followed by a playful, more natural English landscape park. Well preserved and an oasis of peace in the busy Randstad. You walk here through neatly landscaped ornamental gardens and leafy park forests. It is precisely this variation that makes this country estate so special. Exhibitions are regularly held in the mansion.
