Het Gravensteen
The Gravensteen is a monument in Leiden. Over the years, the building has had various functions, including a residence, prison, book warehouse and university building. The Gravensteen was built in the early thirteenth century. It served as a (private) prison for the counts of Holland, who themselves regularly lived in the adjacent fortified farm (Huize Lokhorst).
