It goes without saying that the building, as it stands today, no longer reminds us of the old castle. As far as we know, no image of the old castle has been preserved. Coincidental finds are known, including monastic jokes, which may indicate that the 13th century castle was there. For the rest, jugs, coins, etc. have been found. It seems a bit strange that sarcophagi appeared at the end of the 18th century, as Adriaan Loosjes mentions in his 'Hollands Arcadia' (1804). There should have been a church or chapel with burial rights at the castle, unless these relics from the past came from elsewhere
