Fort WKU

Fort WKU is not just a cozy tea house. This catering facility is located in an old fort that used to be part of De Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. The fort was built between 1871 and 1877 and it consists of a moat, an earth wall and an inner courtyard with a bomb-proof barracks. In short, Fort Werk aan de Korte Uitweg is a special place in a wonderfully quiet area. Take a nice bike ride or walk along the course of the river Lek and settle down at this fort for a well-deserved break. Enjoy a cup of coffee, lunch or high tea in the cozy tea house or on the sun-drenched terrace. You will automatically get new energy from that. You can also spend the night at the fort. Book a spot on the natural camping site and bring your own tent to sleep in the middle of nature. This is the perfect base for numerous cycling tours and hikes.
