Old Groninger Churches
Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk

A thick layer of plaster hides its medieval origins. This tufa church was once Romanesque but has been modified over time and saved from destruction. Now a hall church with enlarged round arch windows and a tower with a needle spire. The church, like the churches of Ulrum and Niekerk, is crowned with a lion as a weather vane. This shows the relationship of the three churches with the distinguished Lewe family, who were the collator of these churches.
