Fransum is the only church in the province of Groningen to have a masonry brick pulpit from the Middle Ages. The construction of this lonely church started in the 13th century with a Romanesque nave with 3 bays. The east travee was later replaced by a three-sided closed choir. The turret has an octagonal lantern.
