L118: Vluchteling

Because the Germans expected an attack from the Allies, they gave the order on September 27, 1944 that the population of Overloon and the villages to the east of it must be immediately evacuated. A stream of refugees starts. This village Holthees then has 420 inhabitants. It provides hospitable accommodation for approximately 1,500 refugees. But on September 30th Holthees will also be bombed. Residents and refugees are forced to move on. Among them is Jan Henckens.
