L116: Hell’s Highway

German troops are doing everything they can to stop the Allied advance. They are constantly bombarding the road along which the British XXXth Army Corps is advancing. Many British and Americans are killed. They therefore nicknamed the road 'the highway to hell': Hell 's Highway. The Germans manage to block the road for so long that vital reinforcements and supplies cannot reach Arnhem. As a result, Operation Market Garden fails. In the meantime, wonderful stories play out between individual soldiers.
