L59: Het verscholen dorp

In the spring of 1943, a secret village for people in hiding was founded in the Soerelse woods. 'Het Verscholen Dorp' offered refuge to more than eighty refugees. On Sunday, October 29, 1944, disaster struck when two Landstormers accidentally came across a young person in hiding. The camp was destroyed and executions followed, but most of the people in hiding managed to escape.
