The De Hoop windmill in Horn is the only sixteen-sided machine in Europe and was thoroughly renovated in 2009. De Hoop was built in 1817 and is one of the few mills in Limburg to survive the war without serious damage. After the death of the miller van der Voort in 1949, his widow and her daughter used the mill, something which was very unusual at the time. De Hoop ground until the end of the 50s of the twentieth century. In 1968 the municipality bought the mill, to have it restored a few years later.
