Fort Sabina / Sabinasluis

Fort Sabina, the 'grande dame' of the Zuiderwaterlinie, is one of the largest and most intact Brabant forts. Fort Sabina formed a circle around Willemstad together with forts De Hel, Bovensluis (Numansdorp) and Frederik (Ooltgensplaat). A strong front that defended us against the English. Later, too, Sabina embraced its citizens: she provided cover during the Second World War. In the 1950s and 1960s Fort Sabina served as an ammunition store.
