Abdij van Postel

Deep in the Kempen between the woods and the fields you will find Postel Abbey. In 1140 the first group of monks went to live here. The monks of this abbey are called Norbertines, after their founder, Saint Norbert. To support themselves, the Norbertines brewed beer and made cheese. Meanwhile, these activities have grown into a craft industry. So you can go here very well if you are looking for artisan cheese or something else tasty. Other activities of the monks are forestry, agriculture and animal husbandry. The Norbertines also maintain a huge herb garden, where herbs are soaked in an environmentally friendly way. These herbs are used to make creams that help with all kinds of ailments. This abbey is a real tourist attraction. But no matter how busy it is, you can enjoy a peaceful rest within the abbey walls.
